Teaching at OIMB with Julia Y

So to catch up in my new site I wanted to post a quick link to a “tag team seminar” I presented with my friend Julia Y, (Check out her webiste!) last summer at OIMB (Oregon Institute of Marine Biology). I teach a biological illustration course there every summer. Last summer Julia and her partner Chris were able to come up and help me with teaching as well as presenting the seminar, “The Alliance of Art and Science”. We uploaded it in two sections to Vimeo (below). The first half begins with Julia opening the seminar, then I take over and talk about scientific illustration. Julia presents the second half where she focuses on art inspired by science and science inspired by art.

Julia is the one who put together these videos and I have to give her a big thank you. We had very basic equipment, a couple cell phones and a 35 mm SLR. So our resources were extremely limited, but Julia did a wonderful job pulling it all together.

This blog post talks about my experiences at OIMB.
